Job Opportunity: Development Assistant

Where: Children’s Hospital – Silver Spring, MD

The Development Assistant will perform administrative duties to support the Leadership Donor Relations team in project management and execution of stewardship and communication activities. The Development Assistant will support a team that is responsible to hospital and foundation leadership and to high-level VIPs, including international officials, donors, and associated parties in Washington, DC, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Responsibilities include:

  • Delegation visits to the UAE
  • Donor communications (annual stewardship report, international patient stories, progress reports, email outreach, etc.),
  • Embassy and hospital relations (visits, tours, trainings, and special appointments) for high-level officials, and Sheikh Zayed Institute and other UAE partnership projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Evidence of good writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Desire to work and grow in this profession is essential. 0-1+ years of similar experience, including volunteer/internship work.
  • Have strong organizational, writing and editing skills.
  • Have a strong work ethic and sense of accountability.
  • Be able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under tight/changing deadlines.
  • Be a proactive communicator.
  • Be flexible and able to troubleshoot during times of high activity.
  • Be creative and have knowledge (or proactively acquire skills) in Microsoft Office Word/Excel/PowerPoint, Raiser’s Edge, Convio, Constant Contact, Adobe Acrobat Pro/ Illustrator/ Photoshop/ InDesign/ Lightroom, Apple Final Cut Pro/X/7/Motion, and other graphic design and multi-media programs.
  • Consistent delivery of the highest-quality standards in a deadline-oriented and fast-paced environment is required.
