Free Professional Head Shots!

When: Friday, April 24, 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Location: University Career Center & The President’s Promise (3rd Floor Hornbake Library, South Wing)

The Center is offering free professional head shots! Arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your time slot. You will be directed to a room where you may change, prep, and wait for your photo to be taken. Each session will last roughly 5 minutes. Photos will be prepped and emailed to you by the end of the next business day.

Scheduled appointments will occur between 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Walk-ins will be accepted between 1:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Joseph M. Mitchell Memorial Scholarship Award

The Joseph M. Mitchell Memorial Scholarship Award provides one-time awards of up to $1,000 to undergraduate or graduate students whose ability to succeed at the university may be challenged by some personal or family circumstance.

Scholarships will be awarded each fall and each spring semester to one or more deserving students.

Applications and nominations for Spring 2015 award are being accepted through January 4, 2015.

Food Pantry on Campus

The Campus Pantry will be open this Thursday Nov 6, 4-7 pm to distribute emergency food for Terps in need (current students, staff, and faculty). The Campus Pantry is located at Concessions Stand 4 in Cole Field House. The Campus Pantry is open twice a month to distribute food. To be eligible for services you must be a current student, faculty or staff-member at UMD. Please bring your current UMD ID with you.

People are encouraged to donate nonperishable items — canned fruit, dry or canned milk, cold or hot cereals, peanut butter, low-sodium canned vegetables, canned fish or poultry, baby food and other items — every Monday at Cole from 3 to 6 p.m.

Pick-Up dates (from 4 to 7pm) are: Thursday, Nov. 6; Wednesday, Nov. 19; Thursday, Dec. 4; and Wednesday, December 17.

Drop-Off hours: Mondays, 3pm to 6pm

UMD Summer Language Institute

With low flat rate tuition for both in and out-of-state students (just $6,000 for 10 weeks), small class sizes, and dedicated faculty, the UMD Summer Language Institute is a great way for you to get a head start on language learning or to maintain your language over a summer!

UMD Summer Language Institute Highlights:
– One full academic year (12 credits) of language learning in one intensive summer
– Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced instruction
– Language partners for additional support, one-on-one speaking practice, and tutoring
– Varied and interesting hands-on cultural events and field trips and networking opportunities, making the most of our proximity to Washington, DC
– More than 35 hours of in-language coursework, language partners, and cultural activities per week
